A day with vistlip

It’s past midnight. But the sound from the video games still can be heard. Some voices are also following the sound. The voices sound cheerful, happy, with shouting and laughter.

umi slowly opens his sleepy eyes and look at the time. He’s wondering who’s still awake at such hours. He steps down from the bed and goes to the living room where he sees 4 creatures happily sitting together in front of TV.

“Baka, Yuh! You shouldn’t go that way!” shouts Tohya.

“Ah~~ Shut up! You aren’t helping!” reply Yuh.

“Sugoi, rui! You’re beating Yuh! Come on! Just a little more,” tomo excitedly look at the energy bar of rui’s game character. rui smiles swiftly with his eyes still at the TV.

“Ah…ah…ah!! No~~~~~~” cried Tohya disappointed. Yuh has lost the game.

“Game over,” said tomo.

“rui has beaten you five times in a row,” tomo laughs.

“Damn. I didn’t know you’re that good,” said Yuh. Like always, rui just smiles.

“Come on, tomo. It’s our turn now,” said Tohya taking the joystick from Yuh.

“Yosh~~~ I’m going to beat you!” rui gives the joystick to tomo.

“Hell no! I’m going to beat you for sure!” reply Tohya. The two are ready to start the game when umi greets them.

“And what do you think you’re doing this late?” ask him. Everyone become quiet and still. No one moves.

“umi, you’re awake,” said Yuh with an awkward smile.

“Yes, I woke up thanks to your noisy sounds. You haven’t answered my question. What are you doing at this late?” umi cross over his hands on the chest. The four slowly turns to umi and sits in the most polite way. As if they are facing a land lord and they are the low subordinates.

“We’re playing video games,” told tomo.

“We’re having fun that we forget the time,” add Yuh.

“It’s so much fun. You want to join us?” ask Tohya with excited eyes. Yuh quickly hits his head. rui is just sitting still.

“Thanks for the offer, but I think I’ll skip it this time since tomorrow I must wake up early to attend a radio show. In case you don’t remember, ALL OF US HAVE TO GO EARLY,” umi stressed his last words. The four bend their head deep down.

“Sorry, umi. We know we have to wake up early tomorrow. But, you don’t have to be worry. We won’t be late,” said tomo.

“You expect me to believe it?” ask umi. Everyone stills. umi takes a sigh.

“Okay, turn off the TV and go to bed now,” told umi.

“But, umi,” Tohya wants to protest. He wants to play one game with tomo.

“What?” umi gives his deathly glare. Tohya bends down.

“No…nothing,”

“If there’s nothing then hurry do what I say,” Yuh slowly turns back and shut down the TV. rui helps him to wrap the joystick and the video games player. They keep it under the TV. After doing it, they turn back to umi. Tohya and tomo were just still.

“Now go to bed,” told umi. One by one they rise and slowly pass over umi to go to their rooms.

“umi is like a scary dad,” said Tohya.

“Urusai!!” said umi harsh. The four quickly runs to their rooms.

Umi is being quiet inside the taxi, as he has presumed they were all late. Even umi can’t believe he’s also waked up late.

“Don’t worry umi. We won’t be late,” said Yuh. But umi keeps still.

“Driver-san, could you add the speed, please?” ask rui. In instant the driver really hit the gas and the taxi goes faster. They quickly get off from the taxi as they reach the train station. They will be taking the train to the radio show. The station is quite crowded.

“Don’t get separate!” warn umi.

“umi sounds like a teacher,” laugh Tohya. umi doesn’t reply Tohya. He’s listening to the announcer about the train they should take.

“Over here,” said umi leading the way. The four trust the leader and follow him obediently.

“tomo, I’m hungry,” whisper Tohya. Because of late, they didn’t get the chance to have breakfast.

“Yeah, me too. Let’s buy some food then,”

“But the train,”

“Nah, it won’t take long,” tomo turns to one food stall to buy food.

After gets the food, tomo and Tohya quickly catch up rui, Yuh and umi.

“Where have you been?” ask Yuh quietly. He slightly looks at umi. It seems that umi doesn’t know that the two were fall behind.

“Buy some foods, you want one?” tomo shows Yuh various food he has bought, while Tohya and rui are already busy eating. Yuh thinks for a moment before he takes one.

“umi, do you want food?” offer Yuh. But umi doesn’t hear him. Umi is listening to the announcer again.

“Ah the train comes,” points Tohya.

“Are you sure it’s the right train?” ask rui.

“Of course, the announcer has said it,” told Tohya. Rui looks at umi who’s now picking up his bag and prepared to walk. The four follows him.

“This way,” said umi walking. The four are also walking inside the train that has come. It was quite crowded but they manage to get a place.

“Everyone is in?” ask Yuh.

“tomo is here,” told tomo.

“Tohya also,” add Tohya.

“rui here,” said rui. Everyone stills.

“Where’s umi?” ask Yuh looks around.

“Eh? Didn’t he manage to get in?” wonders tomo. rui is also looking around until his cell phone rings. It’s umi.

“umi? Yes, we’re inside the train. Where are you? What?” suddenly rui’s face change.  

“What’s wrong rui? Something happen to umi?” asks Yuh worries. rui stills. He turns on the speaker so the other could talk with umi.

“umi, what happen? Where are you? Are you doing okay?” ask Yuh.

“Yes, I’m doing okay. You guys?” ask umi from the cell phone. His voice sounds very gentle.

“We’re all doing okay. But we’re missing you here. Where are you?” No answer from umi.

“Seriously umi, are you alright?” ask Yuh start to feel really worry.

“Yeah, nothing happen. It’s just,” umi stills again.

“umi,”

“I’ve took the wrong train,” told umi. Everyone stills. Then they all burst into laugh.

“That’s impossible, umi takes the wrong train,” laugh Yuh.

“Yeah, I thought this thing only happen to us,” laugh tomo.

“umi is an ordinary person after all,” laugh rui.

“Baka umi~~~~” tease Tohya.

“Okay…okay…cut it out. It’s also your fault for being distract me. I don’t have enough sleep last night because of you guys,” excused umi.

“But we also don’t have enough sleep,” said tomo still giggles.

“Okay, seriously. Cut it out and listen. I’ll get off on the next station and take the right train. But I will be late for sure. So you guys just go ahead to the radio station and handle things there. I’ll catch up as fast as I can,” explain umi.

“Yes, yes. We understand. Leave it to us,” said Yuh.

“Yeah, I’m counting on you,” umi sounds isn’t sure with Yuh’s words.

“Right then, see you at the radio. Don’t lose your way, umi,” tease Yuh.

“Also don’t be long, we’ll save some food for you,” told Tohya cheerfully. umi laugh a little and then hangs up the phone. The four still have the smile on each faces.  

“Ano, but do we know where to get off?” ask rui. Yuh looks at tomo and Tohya to find the answer. No, they don’t know. rui picks back his cell phone to contact umi, but tomo quickly stops him.

“No, don’t. We will only make umi worry,” said him.

“But,”

“We’ll find the way. Don’t worry, how hard it can get?” tomo is smiling to convince rui. He did it. rui smiles and put back the phone. Yuh looks at Tohya who lifts up his shoulders, signing that he’ll go whatever the others decided to do. Yuh takes a sigh.

“We’ll ask people,” said him. tomo nods agreeing.   

Few minutes later, they found a seat and quickly get to sleep by leaning against each other. People are looking at them with a smile. The four look like a family that was going out together.

“They are cute,” said passenger 1.

“Yes, they are. But, should have they get off?” ask passenger 2.

“Eh? Maybe you’re wrong. If they have to get off then they won’t be sleeping like that,”

“But, I’m sure. They have asked me back then,” the two passengers look back at the four who’s still sleeping. There’s a tone coming out from rui’s bag. rui only move a little to hug the bag and continue sleeping. The tone comes from his cell phone, with umi’s name shown on the screen.
